Question 1: What attracts you to like this genre of music?
From this question I have learnt that my target audience like pop music because they feel pop music allows them to become in a good mood. Another thing which my target audience feel why they are attracted to the genre pop is because in the music video they use vibrant colours.
Question 2: What do you expect to see in a pop music video? Why would you expect to see what you've just said in a pop music video?
From this question I have learnt that my target audience would expect to see both female and male because this genre of music is aimed at teenagers and young adults so having both genders in the video is conventional. Another thing which my target audience would expect to see in a pop music video is a narrative story because this is also conventional to pop music videos.
Question 3: Do you feel older pop music videos look better than today's pop music videos? if yes, why do you feel this way?
One thing I can learn from this question is that my target audience feel pop music videos are better than older videos because the editing techniques for the videos are much better quality today than in older pop music videos. Another thing I can learn is having better techniques and editing skills in today's pop music videos attracts the target audience more because of the vibrant colours.
Question 4: Do you think pop music videos are more interesting when they have a narrative convention to the lyrics of the song?
From this question I am able to learn that having a narrative convention to the song lyrics will interest my target audience more, whereas if there is a pop music video with scenes that don't follow the lyrics of the song the target audience won't be as interested.
Question 5: From the photos shown below do you prefer to watch dancers for the whole time of the video with the song in the background or would you prefer to watch only the artist for the whole duration of the video?
From this question I am able to learn my target audience like watching good performers in the video such as Olly Murs, however they do also like to watch a dance routine because this can be entertaining to watch. Also my target audience prefer to see more than one person in the video so like to see a dance routine as well as the artist.
Question 6: Do you think pop music videos should create a happy atmosphere and have a high key lighting to create that atmosphere or do you think they should have a low key lighting to create a tension?
I am able to learn from this question that my target audience feel pop music videos should have a high key lighting because if they have low key lighting this relates to different genres of music such as R&B. Another thing I have learnt is that my target audience feel when pop music videos have a high key lighting this is what attracts the target audience to the videos.
